Feeding Frenzy

To the new Indian moms out there who love their child as well as their career. Giving them proper food is one of the big issues we have to face. Let’s face! It’s much harder than the emotional turmoil of temporary partition from our baby. Well I found a better way by which we can save lot of time as well as feed the baby nutritious food.

First stop the guilt feeling of not feeding the baby properly. I feed my 9 month old early morning and before going to office, then in the evening and nights. In between that my prince has smashed fruits and veggies. Some time a steam a load of veggies fro 5 min or so mash it in the mixer mix salt and a little pepper [I am introducing spices to my young one] I freeze them in small containers and date them and use it for a week. Its simple when needed just thawand give your little one.

Fruits are much easier; I just put them in the mixer along with some nuts especially almond and pour honey. Or I steam mixed fruits [use your imagination] and mix it with honey and nuts and mash them together and freeze them just like the veggies. My son loves it. But I make sure when I am at home I give him only fresh food.

Use your imagination and mix ingredients and do make sure your little one is not allergic to those.

You can also dry fry 1 part of rice with 2 parts of pootukadali or Bengal gram with few corns of pepper. Once it is cold grind it into a fine powder and store it in a air tight jar. When needed put three tsp of this powder in one glass of boiling water and cook on low heat for 5-7 min and feed the baby once its cold.

Warning: mashing and storing baby food in freezer can be perceived as a taboo for certain elders so its up to you to convince them. I still can’t convince my in laws about this but nevertheless I do it as I know I am feeding my little prince healthy food.
